Arabic Literature: Level 1

Imam Adam Jamal will follow up our Understand Quranic Arabic curriculum with a course that will focus on reading Arabic literature.

If you:

  • can read Arabic well
  • have studied some Arabic grammar
  • know a decent amount of Arabic vocabulary
  • would like to learn to read Arabic without vowels (harakaat)

...then this is the course for you!


The first part of this course is complete. Part 1b begins on the 17th of April.

Each Saturday, the class will be hosted at 12pm-1pm PST.


We will be reading:

  • Qasas Al-Nabiyyeen (Stories of the Prophets)

The objective of the course is to read Arabic literature as we prepare students to eventually be able to read Arabic without the vowels (harakaat)


Put everything you learn into practice!

You will be assigned chapters for at-home reading and review every week.


  • Ability to read the Quran 
  • AND
  • Completion of UQA level 4, or equivalent

Materials required:

  • A notebook and pen
  • An internet connection
  • A computer / phone / tablet, with a working speaker

Students receive:

  • Every recording of the live sessions
  • Whatsapp group to ask questions any time

What can I do after this?

The goal of the Arabic Literature track is to be reading tafsir (Quran Commentary) by Summer 2021. 

We will read Stories of the Prophets in this Arabic Literature 1 class until Ramadan.

Then, in Arabic Literature 2 we will focus on texts that do not have the vowels. 

Finally, Arabic Literature 3 will consist of an easy to read tafsir in Summer 2021.

Imam Adam Jamal is an Imam and Education Director at the largest masjid in Washington State, USA. He holds a degree and ijazahs in Islam as well as a Master's in Education. He loves that look when students start to understand the words of the Quran.

Fathima Haseefa

Senior Instructor

Fathima Haseefa was a student of Imam Adam Jamal for a year, and later went on to teaching Quranic Arabic online, and at the local masjid. She enjoys helping students develop a deeper relationship with the Quran.
