Leanna Abdelmaged

Senior Instructor

Ustadha Leanna’s journey with Quran began after she converted to Islam as an adult. Initially, she started with learning the alphabet in a local masjid in Arizona. Leanna knew that although learning to speak Arabic would be an achievement, she wanted to focus more on learning to read Quran. She found a Quran teacher in the community and started lessons with her. From there, she went on to take Arabic and fiqh courses with Zaytuna Institute. A bit of a wayfarer, Leanna moved to the United Arab Emirates where she continued her lessons at a Quran center and completed an Arabic grammar intensive online course with Bayyinah Institute. Since that time, she has moved back to her home state and has returned to classes with her first Quran teacher and tutors Muslim women one-on-one that want to learn to read the Quran. Leanna’s preference is to work with those that are just starting their journey with the Quran as she empathizes with their struggles. She reminds herself and her students, regularly that our relationship with the Quran is like an ocean with no shore. She prays that Allah (swt) will bless us all with the Quran as a companion in this life and a witness in the next.
